Question:

A recent survey has highlighted that one of the biggest problems your organisation has is ineffective communications. Identify five actions you could take to improve the situation?

Answer:

1. Establish or improve your Team Briefings, rotate the chair,
2. Train the managers/supervisors how to communicate more effectively face to face
3. Improve your notice boards – make someone responsible for them, colour code them, have theme weeks/months
4. Don’t have meetings that go on for more than 2 hours, time every item and be ruthless
5. Emails can not show emotion, so a large proportion of the total message may be lost. Communicate face-to-face, listen and observe a lot and talk less.
