Defra consulting on revised guidance for LA-PPC activities

November saw the issue by Defra of several consultations relating to revised “Process Guidance Notes” for Part A2 and Part B activities regulated by local authorities under the Pollution Prevention and Control Regulations 2000. These are summarised below.

• IPPC SG2 for the glassmaking sector
Comments are invited on a draft second edition of the guidance on the best available techniques for minimising pollution from glassmaking installations. The Consultation was issued on 30th November and the Deadline for responses is Wednesday 8 February 2006. • PG 6/34 (A) (05) - The original coating of road vehicles and trailers and PG 6/34 (B) (05) - Respraying of road vehicles
Comments are invited on proposed revised guidance on original coating of road vehicles and trailers and respraying of road vehicles in the light of directive 2004/42/CE limiting solvents in certain paints and varnishes and vehicle refinishing products (the “Paints Directive”). The Consultation was issued on 21st November and the Deadline for responses is 16 January 2006. Further information can be found at http://www.defra.gov.uk/corporate/consult/paint-respray/index.htm.

• IPPC SG1 for the particleboard, oriented strand board and dry process fibreboard sector
Comments are invited on a draft second edition of the guidance on the best available techniques for minimising pollution from particleboard, oriented strand board and dry process fibreboard installations. The Consultation was issued on 11th November and the Deadline for responses is Friday 20 January 2006.
